Good to know

  • Plan on a few nights of trying tip sizes. Many people need a different size in each ear.
  • They muffle snoring and traffic well. A loud siren or a phone alarm will still get through.
  • Try the Double Tips if the foam ones feel too full. They are lighter but let in a bit more sound.

Why it's worth it

Most earplugs are made for concerts or flights, then get squeezed against the pillow all night. Loop Dream is shaped for sleep. The body sits nearly flush with your ear, so lying on your side doesn't press it deeper, and the oval foam-silicone tips seal without that stuffed feeling foam can leave. They won't make a room silent, but they take the edge off snoring and street noise enough to keep you asleep.

The review

Loop made its name with ring-shaped earplugs for gigs and busy offices. Dream is its sleep model, and the big change is the shape. Instead of a loop that sticks out, you get a low, rounded body that sits close to the ear, which matters most once your head is on the pillow.

What it does well

Comfort is the headline. Side sleepers tend to find these easier to wear all night than foam, because there's less to push against. The oval foam-silicone tips hold a seal without needing to be rolled and squashed every night, and they stay in once you've found the right size.

The box gives you plenty to work with: two tip styles in four sizes each. That's useful, because many people end up with a different size in each ear.

Where it falls short

These reduce noise; they don't cancel it. Reviewers say the blocking isn't clearly better than good foam plugs, and loud sounds like sirens still come through. That can be a plus if you need to hear an alarm or a baby monitor, but it isn't silence.

Fit takes patience, and you will still notice something in your ears, especially the first few nights.

Bottom line

If foam plugs hurt when you sleep on your side or keep falling out, Loop Dream is a sensible upgrade. If you just want the most blocking for the least money, foam still wins.
